In Perugia, a pool in Jerusalem stone

In the centre of Perugia, a large 25 m x 7 m infinity pool was developed for a private client, featuring a traditional rectangular shape with Roman stairs and a high visual impact. The crux of this project is no doubt the material selected to create it: Jerusalem Stone, a natural stone from Israel featuring excellent technical properties.

Type of works
The works, both in the design and construction phase, were followed by Guido Medici. This elegant grey coloured stone, used for prestigious indoor and outdoor floors and coverings, was selected for the pool.
The Roman stairs were developed with extreme attention to detail: the steps were worked using a water flaming procedure, guaranteeing a precise cut, while for the splash-backs, 2.5 x 2.5 cm mosaic tiles were selected made from the same natural stone and mounted on netting.  For the outdoor flooring around the pool, once again in Jerusalem stone, a traditional four-module Opus Romano format was selected. Even the perimeter slabs along the edge of the pool were subjected to a non-slip treatment thanks to the new water flaming technology that also guarantees the stone's original colour.

Materials Used
The high-performance cementitious grout by Litokol Litochrom 1-6 in a Jasmine colour, suitable for grouting joints from 1 to 6 mm wide, was used to seal the joints between the slabs.  The same rectified material was also laid inside the pool, with mitered corners.
Once again by Litokol, the Litoflex K80 improved cementitious adhesive with long open time, in white, was selected as the binder for the internal pool slabs, stairs and external flooring. Together with Litoflex K80, the Latexkol high-elasticity synthetic latex was used in the mixture in the place of water to make the Litoflex K80 adhesive highly deformable and offer it a class S2 rating.

The works, both in the design and construction phase, were followed and coordinated by Guido Medici.
